MARK HULBERT
Preservation Architect

With thirty years of professional experience – including, since 2002, as an independent historical architect and cultural resources consultant – I have successfully served my clients and colleagues as an author, design consultant, preservation planner, and architect. I bring to my endeavors broad expertise in architectural, historical, and cultural resource evaluation and interpretation, and always endeavor to do so with fairness and balance. Additionally, I have extensive technical rehabilitation and restoration experience, with a specific expertise on large and complex properties and projects.

My work is deeply influenced by a life-long interest in urbanism and architecture, as well as by the graphic and performing arts.  My professional qualifications exceed the Secretary of the Interior’s Professional Qualifications Standards in the fields of Historic Architecture and Architecture; I am listed by the State of California Historical Resources Information System (CHRIS) as a qualified historical architect and historic preservation consultant; I hold a Certificate in Architectural Conservation from UNESCO’s International Centre for the Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Property (ICCROM) in Rome, Italy; and have been a registered California Architect since 1989.
